Traffic accidents involving children occur within 300 m of school

5%

Of these accidents occur in the school-specific 30 km/h zone

-80%

Fewer speeding violations where municipality speed section control is present

+95%

Probability of a pedestrian surviving a vehicle at 30 km/h

Macq's Safe to Schools solution is a comprehensive approach designed to drastically enhance road safety around schools and other sensitive areas. By leveraging intelligent ANPR cameras, and our advanced M³ software, we provide real-time management of variable message signs and centralize all relevant data. Our solution effectively addresses key safety concerns such as speeding, parking violations, and driver distraction, while also raising awareness about pedestrian risks. With tailored measures to control traffic speeds, monitor restricted zones, and alert drivers to the presence of children, we are committed to ensuring a safer environment for children as they travel to and from school.

How to lower the risk of accidents in a school environment?

  1. Controlling average speed and other dangerous driving behavior (double parking, overtaking, use of cell phone, etc) to encourage all users to follow the rules.
  2. Monitoring of temporary restricted traffic zones in which only certain vehicles may drive.
  3. Management of variable message signs (VMS) alerting road users to the presence of children during specific time periods.
  4. Monitoring "Kiss & Ride" zones and detecting road users who park too long in these areas.
  5. Real time "pedestrian warning system"
  6. Display meaningful statistics & information raising awareness of the risk of accidents involving children.

With Macq’s Safe to School solution, these features come together to create a safer environment, reducing risks and ensuring children can travel to and from school safely.

Survival Rate VS. Speed

It is possible to compare the impact with the hit you receive during a free fall. That free fall increases in height the quicker you drive. For instance, falling from the 3rd floor of a building would be similar to a collision with a solid object at 50 km/h (about 10m drop). Our children have the best chance of surviving an impact at 30 km/h.

A 30km/h zone is best controlled via average speed section control.
